Cooler Master Notepal X2 Review

With the concept of efficiency and silence in mind, the Cooler Master Notepal X2 provides maximum comfort for laptop users. Whether in a desktop environment or with the laptop on our lap, the Notepal X2′s air intake from the bottom cools your laptop with its ultra-quiet 140mm fan, effectively dissipating high temperatures generated by the CPU and GPU. Notepal U2: Dual-Fan Cooler from Cooler Master

Unlike the Cooler Master Notepal U1, which is built for smaller laptops up to about 14 inches, the NotePal U2 can hold a larger laptop up to 17 inches in size. However, if you have a really large notebook in the desktop replacement segment, the U3 is most likely a better choice. This is the middle-of-the-road alternative, great for 15- and 16-inch laptops. And as you might have guessed, the number next to the ‘U’ stands for the amount of fans the cooler is equipped with.

In other words, this one comes with two fans that operate through an aluminum mesh to provides ample cooling for any machine you place on it. The two 80mm fans are actually removable in case you just want to use it as a stand. The most attractive part of the Notepal U2 is its combination of excellent cooling performance and a very low price point. There are few cooling solutions on the market that offers this much value without adding the aspect of being essentially useless.

Xpad Slim – Simple Pad with X-Shaped Pattern

Just like Logitech’s Portable Lapdesk N315, the Xpad Slim is a basic pad that cools your laptop without using fans. Unlike the Lapdesk, however, the Xpad Slim is larger and has room for up to 17-inch notebooks. As the name implies, the Xpad surface is comprised of an X-shaped pattern that raises the computer at the edges, while also preventing it from slipping. This allows air to flow freely under your computer to keep it running cool and quiet whether it’s in you lap or on your desk.

Logitech Portable Lapdesk N315 Review

The Lapdesk N315 from Logitech adds some functitonality compared to the average laptop cooler by adding a separate, pull-out tray for your portable USB mouse. It is good for laptops up to 15 inches but not much larger than that. Some 15-inch notebooks might even reach outside the pad’s edges, which does not make it unusable but rather uncomfortable. Its design is very simplistic – perhaps overly so – but at the same time it’s easy to tuck the Lapdesk into your average laptop bag. As the name implies, the Lapdesk N315 is indeed portable. Logitech Comfort Lapdesk Review

The idea of a padded laptop stand is certainly not new, but Logitech has taken a simple thing a notch further with the Comfort Laptops and made it manageable in just the right situations. It is designed primarily to maximize comfort for the user as opposed to focusing exclusively on keeping the laptop cool. Continue reading

Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700 Review

The Lapdesk N700 is one of the biggest stands available and also one of the most feature-packed. As the name implies, the first thing you notice are the built-in speakers. They sound surprisingly good sound, albeit a little tinny. Putting a pair of decent speakers in a laptop stand is actually not such a bad idea – lots of laptops have really poor built-in speakers. Continue reading

Logitech N100 Cooling Pad

For a fan-equipped laptop cooler, Logitech’s N100 is really silent. It is otherwise a simple construction with an attractive, rounded design. The surface is gray (or an optional pinkish hue), but underneath it is moss green for some reason. Whether you like this particular choice of color is a matter of taste of course, but it is distinctly unique. Continue reading

Targus Heat Defense Pad

The Targus Heat Defense Pad does not look like much – it’s just a pad with a three-dimensional pattern. There’s a secret to it, however; it consists of sodium nitrate crystals that are frozen at room temperature, absorb heat and tgeb become liquid. When the pad is cools again the crystals retain their solid form. Continue reading
